Blick aufs Brett

Berlin Con 2023 Review

We are back from this great board game festival and had a lot of fun! The event was a complete success and was completely sold out on Saturday.

This year’s flea market was a veritable Eldorado for board game fans with over 7000 games.

Another highlight was the charity auction in aid of Schutzengel Werk Berlin. The auctions, which were led by Sven, Cron and Thomas, raised 4500 euros!

(Almost) all of the major publishers were also at the start and some of them already had their new products with them.

Another highlight was certainly the Game Nights on Friday and Saturday evening. There was a huge games area where you could play extensively. With more than 900 games on loan, there was something for everyone. A thousand thanks to everyone who came along and had a great time with us!

This year, there were many tournaments again for the first time: Klask, King of Tokyo, Unmatched and much more. Of course, the fantastic pub quiz by Flo from Get on Board was not to be missed. There were two rounds of Blood on the Clocktower and Godot Games explained their new game Among Cultists in our games area.

And we also had tournaments on offer this year:

Full on board - the board game quiz

This challenging quiz was not only about answering the sometimes tricky questions, but also about correctly estimating how many correct answers you knew. If you were too cautious, you had no chance of winning, but you can also gamble and go out with 0 points…

The best teams from the preliminary rounds then competed in the final on Saturday.

Cats & Paws - Tournament

The aim of this catapult game was to hit balls into the opponent’s half. Hitting the cat’s teeth or nose was particularly promising. – An action-packed game that was also great fun for our younger audience.

The game was played over several rounds in a knockout system.

Blick aufs Brett Cup

After a long break, there was once again a board game cup.

This year’s cup games were: Total Regal from Feuerland, Cascadia from Kosmos and Akropolis from Kobold Verlag. Cascadia from Kosmos and Akropolis from Kobold Verlag, and in almost three hours our participants battled for fame and glory – and a few prizes. In the end, we were able to determine three winners each, who were able to go home with game packages.

We hope that all participants had as much fun as we did!

Challengers - Tournament

The tournament places at our Challengers tournament were particularly coveted, which was no surprise as Challengers was nominated for the Connoisseur Game of the Year. In exciting and highly emotional games, 32 participants battled it out to win the tournament.

The award ceremony for the Connoisseur Game of the Year took place after the end of the Berlin Con. We congratulate the authors Johannes Krenner and Markus Slawitscheck and Z-Man Games!

Skitter - Tournament

On Sunday, visitors had the unique opportunity to take part in a tournament in a game that doesn’t even officially exist yet. Skitter is a magnet flicking game with simple rules and a high fun factor. The game was played in a knockout system. The tournament winner took home a Skitter board at the end.

For all those who are interested in this extraordinary game: the Kickstarter will start soon. Information on this can be found at
