Berlin Con 2023
We are back from this great board game festival and had a lot of fun! The event was a great success and was completely sold out on Saturday.
With over 7000 games, the flea market was a real Eldorado for board game fans this year.
Another highlight was the charity auction for the benefit of the Schutzengel Werk Berlin. The auctions led by Sven, Cron and Thomas raised about 4500 euros!
(Almost) all the big publishers were also there and some of them already had their new products with them.
Another highlight was certainly the Game Nights on Friday and Saturday evening. You could play extensively on a huge playing area. With more than 900 games in our library, there was something for everyone. A thousand thanks to everyone who came by and had a great time with us!
This year there were also many tournaments: Klask, King of Tokyo, Unmatched and much more. Of course, Flo from Get on Board’s fantastic pub quiz couldn’t be left out. There were two rounds of Blood on the Clocktower and in our gaming section Godot Games explained their new game Among Cultists.
And we also arranged some tournaments this year:
Voll aufs Brett- Boardgame Quiz
This demanding quiz was not just about answering the sometimes tricky questions, but also about correctly estimating how many correct answers you know. If you were to careful, you didn’t have a chance to win, but you can also gamble and leave with 0 points…
The best teams from the preliminary rounds then competetd in the final on Saturday.
Katzen & Tatzen - Turnier
This catapult game was all about throwing balls into the opponent’s half. It was particularly promising to hit the cat’s teeth or nose. – An action-packed game that was also great fun for our younger audience.
The game was played over several rounds in a knockout system.
Blick aufs Brett Cup
After a long break, there was the board game cup again.
The games of the cup this year were: Total Regal by Feuerland. Cascadia by Kosmos and Akropolis by Kobold Verlag. In almost three hours, our participants fought for fame and honor – and for a few prizes. In the end of each day we were able to determine three winners who could go home with game packages.
We hope everyone who attended had as much fun as we did!
Challengers - Turnier
The tournament places in our Challengers tournament were particularly popular, which was no wonder, after all, Challengers was nominated for the Kennerspiel des Jahres. In exciting and highly emotional games, 32 participants fought for tournament victory.
The award ceremony for the Kennerspiel des Jahres took place after the end of the Berlin Con. Congratulations to the authors Johannes Krenner and Markus Slawitscheck and Z-Man Games!
Skitter - Turnier
On Sunday, visitors had the unique opportunity to play a tournament in a game that doesn’t officially exist yet. Skitter is a magnet snipping game with simple rules and a lot of fun. The game was played in a knockout system. At the end, the tournament winner was able to take a skitterboard home with him.
For everyone interested in this extraordinary game: the Kickstarter will start soon. Information on this under play-skitter.com/kickstarter

PLAY FORWARD in Göttingen
On June 3rd and 4th, the Alte Mensa in Göttingen became a meeting place for board game lovers from the region. We were there with our boardgame library and were able to inspire a well-mixed audience there with the variety of games we offer. From occasional gamers to frequent gamers, from families with small children to students to “older semesters”, everyone had a lot of fun and we were happy about the positive feedback we received from the paticipants.
We gave the opportunity to try out the nominated games from Game of the Year, Kenner Game and Children’s Game of the Year, as well as the corresponding games on the recommendation list. This gave visitors the opportunity to get to know the latest and most exciting games from this year and to convince themselves of their quality.
Many thanks to Ben from the Brettspielblog and Arne from Spieleburg for putting this great event together. The joy and fun that all participants had while playing was contagious and helped make the event an unforgettable experience.
IKEA Board Game Night
On Thursday evening, around 300 visitors were able to try out board games at 60 tables at Ikea's first German Boardgame Night. The event was a great success and we hope that many more IKEA Boardgame Nights will follow. Anyway, we had a lot of fun!
From 28. to 30. October we have been on POLARIS in Hamburg
Some impressions from POLARIS.
Many thanks to Dennis from DICED for the organization.
We have been on SPIEL '22
Klemens Franz designed our Logo. We met him at SPIEL.
